At Pure Hair Design we get asked daily for help with Hair Colour Correction.It is a cause of distress to many women who have coloured their hair at home and then find it develop much darker than they expected, this is because as Professional Hairdressers we use the universal colour code system which determines from blonde to dark (this is a numerical system, blonde being 10 and black being 1). And this system is darker than the regular non trained persons idea of colour.
DIY bleaching removes the natural pigments from your hair
This means that when people are buying hair colour / dye and they choose the colour light brown expecting it to be your average mousy brown hair colour but instead this comes out a much darker brown than expected.

Downsides to both these methods are that you are using bleach to strip the colour pigment out which also removes the natural pigment often leaving the hair an orange / yellow colour and in a poorly ravaged and brittle condition.
