What are the causes of hair volume loss?
There are many reasons why hair can be thinning and sometimes finding the root (pardon the pun) of why your hair is thinning can be the best course of action for trying to counter act it. You should first check for any nutritional deficiencies that you may have or indeed an underlying medical condition that may be the cause of your hair to thin. In this modern age, stress is a large factor of thinning hair and it usually the first symptom to show that the large amount of stress in having a negative effect on your body. If you have been overly aggressive with your hair recently by brushing it too aggressively or tying it up in tight bands then this can damage hair follicles causing thinning hair.
What can I do to increase volume my hair again?
Lift the Roots
Blow-dry your hair until it is slightly damp and then add a volumizing product to the roots of your hair. This technique will stop your hair sticking flat to your scalp and will give the illusion of filled out and more bouncy head of hair. Just be sure to go easy on the amount of heat you apply to your hair to stop causing any further damage than necessary. Speaking of which…
Reduce Heat
Reducing the amount of heat that you apply to your hair will greatly increase the life expectancy of your hair. The heat that you apply to your hair makes it more brittle and dry. You don’t need to turn up the straightener or curling tongs to maximum to get the best look out of your hair. Try and naturally dry your hair as much as possible to reduce the amount of blow drying your hair must take. On the same subject, if you must apply heat to your hair for styling try to use a thermal protection product.
Choose the right brush
Different brushes are needed for different types of hair. For straight hair then a natural bristle brush is what you want to glide through your hair as easily as possible. Wavy or unruly hair should do with a synthetic bristle brush for the right amount of strength and glide as you brush. You can also get a mix of the two, synthetic and natural, which is a favourite amongst hair stylists. If you want to reduce the amount of time you want to blast your hair, ensure you go for a vented brush to improve air flow.
